Reflection on the 'slut-walks'
2011.09.13. 00:27
Being a girl it makes me wonder this whole new thing about girls dressing up like a slut then getting raped and how this whole thing is our fault because we should wear skirts longer than our panties, in the first place not to get insulted...
And what made me write about it is what happened to me in the train today. It's nothing shocking or really serious and yet I found it curious.
So there I was reading my Harry Potter and there's this guy who just catches the train. There's some people and not much of space so he was kinda close to me. So close, he actually touched my belly and I couldn't read anymore because of the lack of space, to repeat myself. Now that wouldn't be a problem, it happens all the time at the rush hours. Things got weird when I felt his hand pressing against me stronger and at some points I was like "Hey, this is not right. Ok he has nowhere else to be pressed at but I could swear he was holding on to my pants." The more I think about it the less sure I am that he actually wanted to do something though. But that's a thing you cannot misunderstand. And as I was thinking about it, whether I should say something or not. Usually I'm bad at these things, I react in a pretty stupid way and it's only minutes after that I have some killer line to break the guy.
Anyway, about halfway between two stations I reached my limit and was like
"Hey, do you wanna get in my pants or what?!"
Then he was like:"Pardon?"
And me again: "Is your hand really in my pants or what?!"
Suddenly he found his place and got kind of embarrassed I must say, not to mention the way he hold out his hands. Just like when a mugger's caught and he's eager to prove he was only helping the old lady with her groceries.
And I couldn't wait the train to stop and get off it as fast as I could.
Now an other important point of my story is that I was dressed nothing like a slut. Unless a long, big jumper covering everything you have and a pair of jeans is too vulgar or kinky.
I mean it's such a lame excuse to say that guys go raping girls because they're dressed as if they were about to go working at a street corner. And surely you could have noticed the excitement that lit my face up when this guy got on the train, pressing against me with his sweaty face and shitty music. No, really, this was the highlight of my day to be standing there, facing him. So quit this bullshit about us wanting guys to come and hit on girls. Because it can and does happen no matter how we are dressed or behave. If a guy has spotted a girl, that's it, it's decided he's gonna go for it sonner or later, this or that way. And yea, often it's the bad way and often it's the girl in the minidress who's the victim. And always, it is our fault.
Because to make things clear, when a girl does want you to go for it and talk to her, touch her etc. she lets you know about it .
Well, that's just nonsense. I don't know what else I had to say about it. One thing is sure, I'm right behind these girls who raise their voices because we do have the right to dress up as we want because it does not affect men in their behavior. If they wanna find a weak girl, they will find her. Then you can blame both sides, it's just not right to blame it on the girls.
I'll stop writing now, I completely lost the essence of what I wanted to say so it's better to leave it their and just go to sleep.
I'm all right for now and am pretty sure, no matter how I will drress up, there will always be some pervert guy who find me and "makes my day..."
